About
Born in Moscow in 1978, Julia Galanina began her artistic education early, graduating from Children's Art School No. 2 in 1991. She went on to study at the prestigious Stroganov Academy of Arts, earning her degree in design under the mentorship of Nazarov and Barysheva.
By 1998, Julia was creating custom-made carpets and regularly participating in Moscow exhibitions focused on interior design and decorative arts. In 2003, she founded her own company, Carpet Object. For nearly two decades, she collaborated closely with renowned Russian architects and international carpet manufacturers.
Her work has garnered international recognition: she is a 2010 Red Dot Award laureate, and her carpet Pryalki (Spinning Wheels) was exhibited in Paris that same year before entering a private collection. Julia has also collaborated with premium brands such as Maison de Famille and Ligne Roset. Today, her Kruzhevo (Lace) carpet is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Applied Arts in Moscow.
A passionate educator, Julia has been teaching the fundamentals of decorative composition and color perception through plein-air practice since 2009. She has organized and led over 40 creative plein-air trips across Russia and Israel, guiding groups through immersive artistic experiences.
In 2021, she held a solo painting exhibition at the Jewish Center in Moscow, as well as a solo show at Shutko Gallery. Julia currently shares her expertise as an instructor at the Stroganov Academy and as a weaving instructor at the Primakov Gymnasium.
